Since May 2003, Cathy has had a stellar day job working with top-ranked PR firm, Porter Novelli, driving Business Development efforts for the firm's largest West Coast practice based in the Bay Area. In her role at Porter Novelli Cathy leads all outbound new business prospecting, is the central contact for all inbound proposal requests and manages the entire lifecycle of new business proposals. These responsibilities allow Cathy to work with companies from an array of industries – giving her a unique and varied vantage point on trends and issues facing myriad markets.
All the while, this not-so-mild-mannered businesswoman has maintained her connection to the media. Most recently, she founded Other Than That Consulting to help clients better understand how media operate, and guide them in building an effective long-term communications strategy. This work includes message development, tactical analysis and preparing key executives for press tours and broadcast interviews.
In the three years before Other Than That Consulting Cathy built and managed one of the largest, centralized Talent and Booking Departments in the cable industry for TechTV (now G4TechTV) – a national network dedicated to technology and the lifestyle that comes with it. On the booking front, Cathy hired and managed the 15 bookers, secured big name guests such as Craig Barrett, Jeff Bezos and Scott McNealy, and executed all planning and development for interviews from pre-interviews to developing questions and topics for the on-air Talent.
Cathy also identified, trained and secured on-air Talent for the network. In most cases this required finding technology industry experts and training them to work in front of the camera. Beyond her departmental responsibilities, Cathy acted as one of the central spokespeople for TechTV, speaking on numerous panels and presenting to organizations interested in media.
A graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, Cathy currently lives in San Francisco, CA.
There's other stuff too – but this seemed the most pertinent. Feel free to check out my resume (also in this section of the site) and if you have any specific questions about previous jobs or experience let me know and I'll be happy to respond!
